About the Elites
The Capital Region Elites are a professional basketball team representing Albany and the Capital Region, NY in the American Basketball Association (ABA). Built from the top players in the region, the Elites were created to give the Capital Region a pro team of its own — a team the community can stand behind, and a stage where the region’s best talent can prove itself at the professional level.
Owner & Director
Devin Brooks
Co-Owner
Garrick Averett
The team is led by Owner & Director Devin Brooks, a former professional player and founder of Capital Region Basketball, alongside Co-owner Garrick Averett. Preparation is already underway — building the roster, securing a home venue, and playing practice and exhibition games — ahead of the Elites’ first ABA season in December 2027, a 20+ game season.
The focus is the team. The Elites bring together the Capital Region’s top players as one squad — competing at a professional standard, building real chemistry, and representing the region every time they step on the court. Every roster spot is earned, and every game is a chance for the region’s best to show what Capital Region basketball is about.
This is professional basketball with a purpose: represent the Capital Region with pride, create real opportunities for its players, and give fans a team to call their own.
